From May 4–7, 2025, PepperBall will return to the Mock Prison Riot at the decommissioned West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville. Now in its 25th year of participation, PepperBall remains a consistent contributor to this internationally recognized event, which serves as a proving ground for the latest in law enforcement and corrections training and technologies.
Mock Prison Riot draws practitioners from across the globe, offering an immersive training environment that blends classroom instruction with live, scenario-based exercises. The event provides a unique opportunity for agencies to test tools and techniques under realistic conditions within a fully operational mock correctional facility.
At this year’s event, PepperBall will feature several key non-lethal solutions, including the Sentry 68 Pistol—a compact launcher designed for portability and control—and the TAC-SA PRO, a semi-automatic launcher tailored for high-tempo operations in confined spaces. Both launchers are well-suited for correctional environments where fast, safe responses are critical.
Also debuting at the event is the BURST, a revolutionary new device capable of rapidly dispersing a potent PAVA powder cloud to control crowds or neutralize threats in closed quarters. Designed for speed and simplicity, the BURST enhances operational capability in emergency containment and cell extraction scenarios.
Attendees frequently bring their own PepperBall launchers to deploy during scenarios or can access units on loan at the PepperBall booth. In addition to product demonstrations, PepperBall is offering a series of practical training opportunities:
-
Cell Extraction Class – Tactics and team movements for managing uncooperative inmates.
-
Armorers Class – Maintenance and optimization training for PepperBall systems.
-
Walk-In Launcher Repair Clinic – On-site technical support and diagnostics for participant-owned launchers.
Mock Prison Riot continues to serve as a key venue for testing non-lethal systems in real-world conditions. The event’s emphasis on innovation, safety, and operational realism aligns closely with the PepperBall mission to support corrections professionals with reliable, flexible tools.
