Episode 3: Frank Milstead

In this episode of "First Response," Bob Plaschke interviews Ret. Colonel Frank Milstead, a distinguished figure in Arizona law enforcement, with ver 35 years dedicated to serving and protecting his community, including two leadership roles for two major police agencies. 

Milstead began his career with the Phoenix Police Department in 1985, quickly rising through the ranks and gaining extensive experience across various divisions. His leadership capabilities were further recognized when he was appointed Chief of Police for the Mesa Police Department in 2010, where he enhanced operational efficiency and community relations. 

In 2015, Milstead became the Director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, where he earned a unanimous confirmation vote by the Arizona State Senate. Notably, he pioneered the Arizona Border Strike Force to improve border security and combat transnational crime. His career is marked by a commitment to transparency, accountability, and innovation, earning him numerous accolades, including the Torch of Liberty award from the Anti-Defamation League and the Medal of Valor from the Phoenix Police Department.

Frank is currently running for the position of Maricopa County Sheriff.
